Claritycastle Student Support Pod With A School Counselor And A Student Seated Face To Face In A School Corridor

Student Support Pod

A Dedicated Space for Student Support

The Student Support Pod gives schools, colleges and libraries an enclosed, sound-reducing setting for counseling, teletherapy, mentoring, advising and one-on-one conversations inside the buildings they already have. Two lounge chairs, a shared table and a glass door, on the two-person G-2 SL platform.

Starting at $5,000Two chairs and shared table included. Delivery, installation, technology and project-specific options are quoted separately.

The student-support conflict

Important Conversations Need an Appropriate Setting

A student who needs a counselor, an advisor or a tutor usually needs them during the school day, in the building they are already in. The counseling office is often in session, the private classroom has a class in it, and the conference room belongs to whoever booked it first. So the conversation happens in a hallway, at a library table or in a shared office, where it competes with everything around it and where the student is on display.

The problem is not simply a shortage of rooms. It is that personal, spoken student-support activities have to coexist with classrooms, libraries, learning commons and administrative areas that are busy with other things, and permanently assigning another room to support work is rarely possible.

A student support pod creates a consistent, enclosed setting for those conversations without taking a room out of service. It is placed where students already are, it is visible to staff through the glass, and it is available whenever the person who needs it arrives. It is the two-person member of the ClarityCastle education pods line, between the single-user Student Pod and the four-person Collab Pod.

Who this page is for: school counselors and student-support directors, principals and deans of students, advising and tutoring programs, disability-services and academic-technology teams, and the facilities and procurement staff who plan space for them.

What the Student Support Pod supports

Eight Conversations That Need a Room of Their Own

Each use below is a real scheduling or setting problem in a school or campus building, and what the pod changes about it.

School counseling

Counselors carry caseloads that far exceed the number of hours their office is free, and a check-in that has to wait for the office often does not happen. A pod near the counseling suite, the library or a grade-level wing gives a counselor a second place to meet a student the same day, with two facing chairs and a door instead of a borrowed corner.

Teletherapy

When a student meets an off-site provider by video, the school has to supply a seat, a screen, power and a setting where the student is not being watched by classmates. The pod provides that seat with a table for a school laptop, an optional monitor mount and a calmer background, so a session can be held during the day without commandeering an office. The pod is a physical space; the institution and the provider set the technology and privacy practices for each session.

Mentoring

A mentor from the community or a peer-mentoring program meets a student weekly, usually without an assigned room. The pod gives the pair a fixed meeting place with the same furniture every week, so the relationship has a home and the meeting does not depend on which classroom is empty.

Academic advising

Course selection, credit checks and transfer planning involve two people looking at the same screen and talking through options. In a pod the advisor and the student sit across a shared table with a laptop between them, out of the traffic of the advising office and away from the open library floor.

One-on-one tutoring

A tutor and a student working through a problem set need to talk, write and read aloud. At an open table that disturbs the students around them; in the pod the session runs at a natural pace, and the shared table holds the worksheet and the device.

Academic intervention

An intervention meeting about attendance, grades or behavior is a difficult conversation for a student to have in public. The pod gives the teacher, counselor or dean an enclosed, neutral setting that is not the principal's office, close to where the student's day is happening.

College and career planning

Application reviews, financial-aid questions and mock interviews need a table, a laptop and a place where a student can ask questions they would not ask in a group. A pod in the career center or library gives those conversations a scheduled, bookable setting.

Family and guardian calls

A parent call or video conference about a student should not happen at a shared staff desk. The pod gives a teacher or counselor a place to hold the call with the student present or not, with a door closed and the rest of the office undisturbed.

Standard Student Support configuration

What the Starting Configuration Includes

The Student Support Pod uses the ClarityCastle G-2 SL two-person lounge platform and accommodates up to two people. The starting configuration includes:

  • Enclosed two-person pod on the G-2 SL platform
  • Two upholstered lounge chairs and one shared table
  • Acoustic interior treatment
  • Integrated ventilation
  • Interior lighting
  • Power outlet with USB-A and USB-C charging
  • Occupancy indicator
  • Glass door and glazed front panels
  • Standard interior and exterior finish choices

Footprint, clearances and the final configuration are confirmed for the selected G-2 SL build during quotation.

Designed around conversation

Two Chairs Facing Each Other, Not a Desk Between Them

A support conversation is different from a meeting. The pod is furnished for it: two upholstered lounge chairs face each other across a small shared table, so a counselor or advisor sits with the student rather than across a desk from them. The table holds a laptop, a folder or nothing at all.

  • Lounge-style seating. Comfortable upholstered chairs rather than task chairs, sized for one adult and one student, or two students.
  • Visibility through glass. The glazed front and door keep the pod visible to staff from the corridor or office, which supports supervision practices while the door stays closed.
  • Lighting and air. Interior lighting and integrated ventilation keep the pod comfortable for a full session.
  • A calm interior. Fabric-finished acoustic interior panels and standard color choices let the pod match a counseling suite, a library or a front office.

The pod is a physical setting, not a healthcare service. It does not replace professional counseling facilities or the institution's own practices.

Virtual student-support sessions

Set Up for Teletherapy, Remote Advising and Video Calls

Many support services now arrive by video: a district teletherapy provider, a college's remote advising desk, a tutor in another city. The student still needs a physical seat in the building. The pod is planned for that use with the school's own equipment.

  • School-provided laptop or monitor. The shared table holds a laptop; a wall-mounted monitor can be added on optional monitor backing or a mounting provision.
  • Camera position and lighting. Seating and table placement are planned so the camera faces the student, and a camera-friendly lighting configuration is available as an option.
  • Power and cable management. The standard outlet and USB-A and USB-C charging keep the device powered; cable management is planned with the monitor and table layout.
  • Data connection. An optional data connection can be planned where wireless coverage is not reliable enough for video.

Technology is configured and quoted per project. The institution and its providers remain responsible for the platforms, accounts and session practices they use.

Visibility, supervision and privacy planning

Private Enough to Talk, Visible Enough to Supervise

Schools have to balance two things in a support space: the student needs enough privacy to speak, and staff need enough visibility to supervise. The pod is built for that balance. The glazed front and door keep the interior visible from outside; the enclosed construction and acoustic interior help reduce surrounding distractions and sound transfer. Performance varies with the pod model, placement, surrounding environment and installation conditions.

Partial privacy film is available as an option: a frosted band at seated height screens faces from passers-by while leaving the upper glass clear, so the pod reads as occupied and supervised. Fuller coverage can be discussed for placements where the institution's policy calls for it.

What stays with the institution

The pod provides the setting. Appropriate visibility, supervision, scheduling and technology practices remain the institution's responsibility. Organizations should establish appropriate privacy, supervision and technology practices for each use, including:

  • Where the pod is placed relative to waiting areas and traffic
  • Who may schedule it and how sessions are recorded on the calendar
  • Whether headsets are used for video sessions
  • How staff maintain line-of-sight while a session is under way

The pod is sound-reducing, not soundproof, and does not by itself make a conversation confidential.

Accessibility planning

Plan Access Around the Individual and the Site

Accessibility should be evaluated around the individual user, pod configuration and installation site. ClarityCastle can work with the institution and its project team to review circulation, entry, furniture layout, controls and other site-specific considerations. An accessibility-oriented configuration, including furniture layout and entry planning, is available as a project-specific option.

Sound performance

Sound-Reducing, Not a Silent Room

The enclosed construction and acoustic interior help reduce surrounding distractions and sound transfer. Performance varies with the pod model, placement, surrounding environment and installation conditions. Organizations should establish appropriate privacy, supervision and technology practices for each use.

For a plain-language explanation of acoustic terminology and how to compare pods, read the Office Phone Booth Buyer's Guide.

What that means for a support space

  • A conversation at the table with less disruption from the corridor or office outside
  • Helps reduce surrounding noise on the student's side of a video session
  • The pod can sit near a counseling suite, library or front office rather than needing a separate room

The pod does not guarantee confidentiality. ClarityCastle reviews placement with the institution before installation.

Why Access to Student Support Matters

The American School Counselor Association describes the school counselor's role and the research behind it on its School Counselor Roles and Ratios page, including the link between students' access to counselors and outcomes such as attendance and graduation. Access is partly a question of staffing and partly a question of where a counselor can actually meet a student when the moment arrives.

The reference is cited for context on the importance of accessible student-support services. It does not describe ClarityCastle products or acoustic pods and does not imply an endorsement.

FAQ

Student Support Pod Questions

What is a Student Support Pod?

The Student Support Pod is a two-person education pod built on the ClarityCastle G-2 SL lounge platform. It gives schools, colleges and libraries an enclosed, sound-reducing setting for counseling, teletherapy, mentoring, advising, tutoring and other one-on-one student-support conversations inside an existing building, without permanently assigning another room. The starting configuration includes two upholstered lounge chairs, a shared table, lighting, ventilation, power and USB charging, an occupancy indicator and a glass door with glazed front panels.

Who can use it?

Any two people who need a dedicated place to talk: a counselor and a student, a mentor and a mentee, an advisor and a student, a tutor and a learner, or a single student on a video session with an off-site provider. Institutions decide who may schedule it and how.

Is it only for counseling?

No. Counseling is one use. The same pod supports academic advising, mentoring, one-on-one tutoring, academic-intervention meetings, college and career planning, and family or guardian calls. It is a physical space for personal or spoken student-support activities, not a service of any one kind.

Can it support teletherapy?

Yes, as a physical setting. A student can meet an off-site provider by video from a school laptop on the shared table, with an optional wall-mounted monitor, a camera-friendly lighting configuration and a data connection available as project-specific options. The institution and the provider set the technology, privacy and session practices; the pod does not provide the service or make the session confidential on its own.

Can two people sit inside?

Yes. The pod accommodates up to two people on the two included lounge chairs, which face each other across the shared table.

Is furniture included?

Yes. Two upholstered lounge chairs and one shared table are included in the starting price. Alternative upholstery and finishes are quoted separately.

Is technology included?

No. Power and USB-A and USB-C charging are included. Monitor backing or a mounting provision, a camera-friendly lighting configuration, cable management and a data connection are project-specific options, configured and quoted per project. Laptops, monitors, cameras and headsets are typically supplied by the institution.

Is it soundproof?

No. The enclosed construction and acoustic interior help reduce surrounding distractions and sound transfer. Performance varies with the pod model, placement, surrounding environment and installation conditions. The pod is sound-reducing, not soundproof.

Does it guarantee confidential conversations?

No. The pod provides a more controlled setting than a hallway or an open office, but it does not by itself make a conversation confidential. Organizations should establish appropriate privacy, supervision and technology practices for each use, including placement, scheduling and the use of headsets for video sessions.

Is it HIPAA-compliant?

The Student Support Pod is a physical space, not a healthcare service, a technology platform or a certified clinical facility, so compliance with HIPAA, FERPA or similar requirements is not something the pod can claim on its own. Whether a given use meets those requirements depends on the institution's and the provider's policies, technology and practices.

Can privacy film be added?

Yes. Partial privacy film, typically a frosted band at seated height, is available as a project-specific option. It screens faces from passers-by while keeping the upper glass clear so the pod remains visible to staff. Fuller coverage can be discussed for specific placements.

Can it use school branding?

Yes. Standard interior and exterior finish choices are included, and school colors or mascot graphics are available as an optional graphics package, quoted separately from the starting price.

Is it accessible?

Accessibility should be evaluated around the individual user, pod configuration and installation site. ClarityCastle can work with the institution and its project team to review circulation, entry, furniture layout, controls and other site-specific considerations, and an accessibility-oriented configuration is available as a project-specific option.

What does the starting price include?

Starting at $5,000, the configuration includes the G-2 SL two-person pod, two upholstered lounge chairs, one shared table, standard interior lighting, integrated ventilation, a power outlet with USB-A and USB-C charging, an occupancy indicator and standard interior and exterior finish selections.

Are delivery and installation included?

No. Delivery, installation, technology and project-specific options are quoted separately, based on the delivery location, building access, site conditions and the selected configuration.

Can it be relocated?

Yes. The pod is modular and can be moved to another area or building as programs change. Relocation is planned and quoted as a separate service.
